How to prevent chandelier from rattling?

Our chandelier in the dining room rattles when someone walks in the bedroom above the chandelier. Is there a way to dampen the rattling or is there a bigger problem with the ceiling that we don’t know about?

I don’t know about the ceiling without looking at it myself, but, to stop the rattling, remove a link from the chain and replace it with a spring. You might have to try different size and strength springs, but, it’ll work.

    A little of both…….weak floor system and probably no support for the light fixture electrical box. It’s nice if the carpenter puts blocking behind any electrical boxes that are going to carry fans and heavy fixtures. It’s easy to do if you have an attic……but if your between floors like you it’s not so simple. Good luck……..ask someone to take a look for you. Hope it helps. Loose fans are dangerous, I’m surprised more little kids aren’t hurt by them.
