Saturn Chandelier – Lowell Observatory Library – Flagstaff Arizona

This is the chandelier in Percival Lowell’s library at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff Arizona. It is designed to resemble the planet Saturn. Using the Clark refracting telescope, Pluto was discovered from this observatory.
@ alandd – My kids are 21 and 20 so I can sort of put myself in your shoes. The Visitor Center has some nice science exhibits and the 12minute presentation in the Theater is well worth the time and cost of admission. Teenagers might not be to into this stuff. Then we went to the Observatory for about 15 minutes and I enjoyed it. Teenagers would probably find it about 10minutes too long. Then we went into the Rotunda library – where this chandelier is located -and continued the tour for about 10minutes. I’m sort of into astronomy and really into history, so I liked it. Teenagers would be marginal unless really into this stuff. You would enjoy it, you were probably better off not forcing the issue. The trip up the chairlift is a lot more fun
